Amy Martin Selected One of Top Business Women for 2003 Amy Martin has been selected as one of the 2003 Top Ten Business Women of the American Business Women's Association (ABWA), an annual award that has been given by the ABWA since 1956. Each year ABWA recognizes 10 members for outstanding achievement in their careers, community involvement and educational development. Those who are selected represent ABWA and its ideals during a year of travel, public speaking and mentoring. As a Top Ten award winner, Amy is now eligible for consideration as the 2003 American Business Woman of ABWA, an award that will be announced Thursday December 5, 2003 at the opening session of the association's 2002 national convention in Nashville, Tenn. The winners of this year's Top Ten Business Women of ABWA honorees were selected for their many career and philanthropic achievements, as well as for their ability to demonstrate how their involvement in the association has contributed directly to significant career achievement. "The seminars at ABWA regional conferences and national conventions provide the training I need to stay ahead of the current trends and skill," said Amy, a senior specialist with Verizon Communications. "The opportunity to network with women across the nation is another important benefit of ABWA." As a member of the ABWA Upper Pinellas Chapter in Clearwater, Amy has held each of the top chapter offices, including president, since joining ABWA in 1986. Additionally, Amy served as 1993 ABWA regional conference publicity chairman and is treasurer for the upcoming 2003 ABWA regional conference in St. Petersburg. "I have developed and improved many of my business skills through my work in the chapter as an officer and committee chairman by having the opportunity to use these skills in a warm and supportive environment," Amy said. The first woman at GTE (now Verizon) Florida to achieve project management professional certification, she plans to continue her pursuit of lifelong learning. We extend our most heartfelt congratulations to Amy, a devoted Delta Gamma. |
